An explosion occurred on Monday morning in front of Russian Embassy in Kabul city of Afghanistan.

Kabul security department spokesman Khalid Zadran said in a statement that a suicide bomber was intending to explode himself among the people who were gathered in front of the Russian embassy, but he was identified by security and targeted, which caused a blast. While on the other hand, some sources are claiming that the suicide bomber blew himself up.

The Russian foreign ministry reported that two Russian embassy workers in Kabul were among many others killed in the blast.

As per Al Jazeera news, the death toll has reached 25, with many more injured. Initially Zadran said that one person was killed and 10 people were wounded in the blast. He said that the area is surrounded by security forces.

It should be noted that Russia is one of the few international countries that has maintained its embassy in Kabul after the Taliban took over the country more than a year ago. Although Moscow does not officially recognize Taliban rule but it is in talks with officials to supply gasoline and other goods to Afghanistan.
